Delivered in person in Strathfield, these accredited courses give parents, carers, educators, youth workers and community leaders the confidence and skills to provide meaningful first-line support.
Course One
Youth Mental Health First Aid — Full Course
The Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) course teaches adults how to recognise, understand and respond to a young person who may be experiencing a mental health problem or crisis. You’ll learn practical, evidence-based skills to provide initial support until appropriate professional help is available or the crisis resolves.
The course covers common mental health problems affecting adolescents — including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, psychosis and substance use — as well as how to respond in a crisis, such as suicidal thoughts and behaviours, panic attacks, traumatic events, severe psychotic states, aggressive behaviours, and the effects of alcohol and other drugs.
Who it’s for
Ideal for parents and carers, teachers and school staff, youth workers, coaches and mentors, health professionals, pastors, youth leaders and chaplains — and anyone who works with or supports young people aged 12–18.

Course Two
Youth Mental Health First Aid — Refresher
The Refresher is for those who have previously completed an accredited YMHFA course and wish to renew their accreditation while updating their knowledge and skills. It covers the latest evidence and guidelines, reinforces the Youth MHFA Action Plan, and gives you the chance to practise responding confidently to young people experiencing mental health problems or crises.
Who it’s for
Anyone who has previously completed an accredited Youth Mental Health First Aid course and is due to renew their accreditation.
